Detox to Reduce Anxiety

Anxiety in Current Times

Anxiety. Sadly, it’s an issue that more and more people are struggling with, and it’s really no surprise when we consider what is going in the world around us right now. Continuing to say it can seem like a broken record but it’s true—we are living in very stressful times! For some, the main cause of stress/anxiety is financial struggles, for some it’s loneliness, depression, and/or a lack of much needed social interaction, and for others it’s any number of physical, emotional, or mental health issues. Heck, throw the holiday stress on top of the COVID-19 pandemic—constantly trying to find the happy medium between protecting ourselves and our loved ones while striving for some type of “normalcy”—and it’s a lot!

Anxiety – The Basics

When specifically talking about anxiety, for some people, it is the main concern, when for others it is just one of many coexisting problems. For anyone who has experienced anxiety, you know that it can range from mild to moderate to severe (and even switch among these severities day-by-day and even hour-by-hour), and it can be extremely debilitating.

It also presents differently for different people. It might include restlessness, lack of appetite, chest tightness, dry mouth, racing heart, panic attacks, or many other symptoms/varieties.

You also know that it can be hard for those who have never experienced it to really understand what it feels like. Expressions such as “it’s all in your head” or “just get over it/think about the good things” come to mind. If only it were that easy!

Anxiety is actually quite misunderstood by most, even many health professionals. Even though it seems like it’s simply a mental or emotional issue, I’ve come to learn that there is way more to it. The root cause is much deeper than just some negative emotions or negative feelings.

When anxiety interferes with your life, it’s caused by toxic heavy metals (such as mercury, aluminum, and copper), viruses (such as one of the over 60 varieties of Epstein-Barr virus or one of the over 30 varieties of shingles virus), or a combination of both toxic heavy metals and viruses. Most of the time, it’s both at once, with one cause more dominant depending on the individual case. – Anthony William

This is important information to know! Anxiety is not “all in your head.” It’s a physical experience as a result of what’s going on inside your body! Going back to some of the stressful things listed at the start of this blog, external factors can absolutely impact how our physical bodies are able to handle the toxicity and viral loads going on inside, which can in turn, impact how and when we experience anxiety.

This can be particularly troublesome for those experiencing chronic illness. Chronic illness symptoms—mystery or not—are anxiety-provoking on their own when you consider the feelings of being misunderstood or not having the answers you want and are constantly seeking.

Anxiety can also be triggered, accelerated, or heightened by emotional conflict, although toxic heavy metals and/or a virus must be present for the anxiety to become sustained, chronic, and longer term. -Anthony William

So, what can we do about anxiety?

As you might have guessed, in order to truly reduce and hopefully eliminate anxiety, one must go right for the root of the problem by detoxing the harmful loads within the body. FOOD is an incredible way to begin doing so!

Keep this in mind : The food we eat has the power to destroy us or nourish us. If we can lower the viral and toxic loads while also supporting our bodies with the nutrients they need, we can eliminate the symptoms of anxiety, and begin to get back to a healthy state.

Detoxifying, Anxiety-Reducing Foods

Some excellent foods to support this entire process include fruits (especially bananas, avocados, and Maradol papayas), leafy greens, herbs, wild foods, and vegetables.

Pumpkin seeds and potatoes are also vital, and never underestimate the power of celery juice !

I am speaking from experience when I tell you that the mineral salts in celery juice are incredible for anxiety! When I was intensely ill and experiencing anxiety, I added celery juice to my bedtime/nightly routine and saw great results. If you are going to begin the detox process in just one way, I highly recommend starting with celery juice.

Adrenal Snacking/Frequency

When it comes to the frequency of eating, know that grazing/adrenal snacking is very helpful, as it is ideal to support your adrenals by eating every 90 minutes to 2 hours—or even every hour if you’re experiencing anxiety.

By eating a nourishing snack or meal every one and a half to two hours that contains the right balance of the glucose, sodium and potassium your body needs, you can prevent the blood sugar dips that force your adrenals to fill in and release adrenaline. In turn, you save your adrenals, and also your liver and pancreas and prevent corrosive, toxic adrenaline from causing you more problems. Adrenal snacking on the right foods can put you on the true path to healing. – Anthony William

You can find some examples of recommended adrenal snacks on the Medical Medium website.

Hydration

Hydration is also imperative because it’s critical for brain activity. Anthony has shared with us that various bugs, such as Epstein-Barr virus, are better able to thrive and cause trouble in a body suffering from chronic dehydration and thick blood. As an added bonus, add citrus to your water to make it even more hydrating (and tastier!).

Supplements

Supplements that are helpful specifically for anxiety include GABA, zinc, B-Complex, B-12 with adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin, barley grass juice powder, and spirulina. Also consider Neuro Mag, lemon balm, and/or licorice root. (As always, consult your wellness practitioner for specific recommendations and dosages.) Certain herbal teas, such as nettle leaf tea, raspberry leaf tea, and lemon balm tea are great to drink as well. Check out some products I recommend.

Cleanse and Reboot

In addition to adding more healing foods, supplements, and hydration to your daily diet, another great way to use food to heal is to participate in a cleanse or reboot. The good news is I am running an 8-Day Reboot starting on January 11th.

For this reboot, I aim to help others to bring in MORE of the good stuff and phase out the foods that do not serve your body. My goal for this cleanse is to facilitate a community of like-minded people in search of healing, in search of clarity, in search of shedding habits that no longer serve.

I strive to provide a foundation for those who have felt nervous about embarking on a cleanse or a detoxification alone and provide a deeper cleansing experience for those looking to further their healing. The Reboot includes a private social media group component (via FB) to allow us to interact and discuss things more deeply and support each other. I’ll be going through the process with you and be there every step of the way to answer questions. If this sounds right for you, make sure to save your spot now.
